Unity Biotechnology is seeking to hire an Associate Scientist to join the in vivo pharmacology team. This position will support the development and characterization of new disease models and in vivo tools using genetically engineered mice to help understand the biology of aging.  These efforts will facilitate preclinical development of new therapies aimed at improving human health span by modifying diseases associated with aging and cellular senescence.

The candidate should have a passion for biology and experience in the maintenance and use of genetically engineered mouse models (transgenics, gene knockouts, Cre drivers) in the study of human disease. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and team player capable of managing experimental design and execution with genetically engineered mice. The duties of the job include animal handling/dosing, genotyping, tissue harvest and downstream processing, analysis/interpretation of data, verbal/written presentation of findings and ideally, a broad understanding of mouse physiology. The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain compliance with animal care policies.


  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant scientific experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, Master’s degree with 2-4 years of experience or a PhD with 0-2 years of experience.
  • Degree in biology, physiology, bioengineering or related field.
  • Proven track record of experience with the validation and application of genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs).
  • Technical experience with animal handling/dosing, genotyping, breeding, mouse phenotyping and physiology.
  • Familiarity with quantitative PCR, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, and multiplexed protein assays strongly preferred.
  • Experience with primary cell isolation and culture preferred.
  • Creativity, a team player mentality and the ability to meet timelines and goals.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
