Unity Biotechnology is a nascent integrated biopharmaceutical company discovering and developing medicines to treat chronic diseases associated with aging. We are located in the San Francisco Bay Area and are seeking to hire a research associate for a position in our Discovery Technologies group. This group plays a critical functional role supporting programs to discover and develop innovative drugs for an emerging and exciting biology. The successful candidate will be both a strong lab-based individual contributor and a team player who synergizes with other scientists.
Responsibilities:
Development and execution of molecular assays in animal tissues/cells
Develop and conduct experiments using rodent oncology models
Extraction of mRNA with manual and automated techniques
General molecular biology/biochemistry methods such as qPCR, western blot, and ELISA
Cell culture and luminescent plate-based assays
Experimental design and execution; Analysis and interpretation of data
Presentation (verbal/written) of findings to the Discovery team
What you will do:
Work with a small team to conduct core biomolecular and nucleic acid assays for the discovery biology department
Conduct rodent experiments for project-based research
70% core work: 30% project research
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Physiology, Molecular or Cellular Biology, Pharmacology, or a related field and 2-4 years of scientific experience in academic or biopharmaceutical research
Experience with mammalian cell culture
Expert in molecular biology and RNA / protein-based assays (e.g. PCR, quantitative PCR, ELISA)
In vivo rodent experience including animal checks and tissue harvest
Rodent dosing via IV, OA, SC, IP
Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute, troubleshoot and interpret experiments
Microsoft office skills as well as familiarity with Graphpad/Prism
