Research Associate In-Vivo Pharmacology Director / Sr. Director Product Team Leader

The department of Cellular & Molecular Pharmacology at Unity Biotechnology is seeking to hire a Senior Research Associate to discover and develop new immunotherapies for the treatment of age-related diseases. This position will afford an opportunity to contribute to both the identification of novel targets and to aid in the prosecution of drug discovery campaigns. The successful candidate should be a highly diligent and creative biologist who has hands‑on experience with cell-based assays and molecular biology techniques. This critical role will be instrumental in helping Unity build an innovative pipeline of differentiated medicines.

The successful candidate will be both a strong lab-based individual contributor and a team player who synergizes with other scientists. The duties of the job are primarily in vitro based and include experimental design and execution, analysis and interpretation of data, and presentation (verbal/written) of findings to the Discovery team. The candidate will have an important role in the generation of key datasets that are critical for the declaration of development candidates.


  • Bachelor’s degree with >4 years of scientific experience or a Master's degree and >2 years of experience
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: multi-color flow cytometry, cellular immunology including primary cell isolation, cell transfections/transductions using retroviral or lentiviral systems, CRISPR/gene editing, antibody discovery and characterization
  • Experience in developing & utilizing cellular assays: cytotoxicity, proliferation and differentiation endpoints
  • Expertise in culture of primary cells and immortalized cell lines
  • Adept at quantitative PCR, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, western blotting, or multiplexed protein assays
  • Creativity and the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team in order to achieve technical and corporate milestones
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills


  • Experience working with and characterizing/validating antibodies is highly preferred
  • A background in Macrophage and/or NK cell biology with experience in developing functional assays is advantageous
  • Some animal handling experience is preferred along with a willingness to work with mouse tissue samples for downstream ex vivo readouts
