Carl Millward, M.D.

Vice President of Translational Medicine

Carl is passionate about the role that personalized medicine can play in the treatment of senescence related disease. Before joining UNITY, Carl served in several roles at Eli Lilly and Company including Medical Fellow within the Tailored Therapeutics organization, responsible for patient tailoring strategy, biomarker development, and immunogenicity for the Oncology Therapeutic Area and as Medical Fellow in Oncology, responsible for the medical leadership of early phase clinical studies. Before Lilly, Carl served as Senior Pathologist at Genomic Health where he held pathology leadership roles for a number of prognostic/predictive assay development and commercial activities. Prior to his industry experiences, Carl was a practicing pathologist in the San Francisco Bay Area and served as the Director of Surgical Pathology and Immunohistochemistry for the National Naval Medical Center. He completed residency and fellowship training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at University of California, San Francisco, and held a staff position there as an Assistant Professor. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and his BS from the Pennsylvania State University.
