Jill Hopkins is a board-certified retina specialist and ophthalmic surgeon who has been working on the forefront of eye disease treatment for her entire career. She came to UNITY from Genentech where she was the Associate Group Medical Director and Global Development Team Lead for the Lucentis Sustained Delivery program. Prior to her 7 years at Genentech, Jill was a practicing clinical and research ophthalmologist in Toronto and Los Angeles for over 15 years. She was a faculty member of the University of Toronto and the University of Southern California, and spent 6 years in clinical research at Retina Vitreous Associates in Los Angeles. In addition to her medical internship and ophthalmology residency, she did fellowships in both retinal diseases and electrophysiology of the eye. She received her MD at McMaster University in Canada, and did her ophthalmology residency at the University of Toronto. Jill did a retina fellowship at University College London at Moorfields Eye Hospital and an electrophysiology fellowship at University of Toronto Hospital for Sick Children and University of Ottawa Eye Hospital. Jill has always been driven to care for patients and find lasting treatments to impact devastating diseases of the eye. The novel biology and potential for new therapies brought her to Unity, where she is Vice President leading the Ophthalmology program.
