Unity Biotechnology is a growing biopharmaceutical company located in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are developing medicines to treat chronic diseases associated with aging and conducting cutting edge research on cellular senescence and its implications in human health and longevity.

We are seeking to hire a highly motivated and innovative Research Associate to join our medicinal chemistry research team to support our internal drug discovery programs. This position will afford the successful individual an opportunity to create clinical candidates for an emerging and exciting science and to translate that into a pipeline of differentiated medicines.

The successful candidate will be both a strong synthetic chemist and a team player who synergizes with other scientists. Research Associate core responsibilities are to conduct synthetic organic chemistry while keeping the laboratory in compliance with safety guidelines. The successful applicant will have an important role in the generation of key datasets that are critical for the declaration of development candidates.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 0-2 years of scientific experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
• Degree in organic chemistry or a related field is highly desirable
• Knowledge of planning multistep synthesis, practical laboratory experience and safe laboratory conduct when performing reactions
• Practical experience with purification systems (flash chromatography, preparative HPLC)
• Knowledge of analytical techniques for structure determination of organic molecules (LC/MS, NMR)
• Experience operating chemistry databases (SciFinder, Reaxys, Beilstein) to plan and troubleshoot synthetic routes
• The successful candidate will demonstrate scientific intellectual curiosity with a strong work ethic and exceptional communication skills (English)
• Work collaboratively within a dynamic interdisciplinary team environment
